The FBI says recent nationwide operations have disrupted cybercrime, investment fraud, bank fraud and other criminal schemes costing victims billions of dollars.
FBI Director Kash Patel said the bureau has carried out a series of major enforcement actions across the United States in recent weeks, targeting fraud networks, cybercriminal infrastructure and violent criminals.
The cases included the disruption of a Chinese phishing platform linked to the theft of millions of credit card numbers and nearly $1.9 billion in worldwide losses. In another case, two people were convicted in Charlotte for running a business email compromise scheme that stole $25 million from US companies.
The FBI also helped dismantle a VPN service used by ransomware groups around the world. Patel said this is part of Operation Riptide, which targets the wider cybercriminal ecosystem — including infrastructure, communications platforms, tools and money networks.
