For the first time, Israel officially complains about the serious Egyptian violations of the peace agreement
In a rare statement at the official Israeli level, Danny Danon, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, expressed concern about the growing military capabilities of the Egyptian military.
Danon questioned the motives behind Egypt spending hundreds of millions of dollars annually on advanced military equipment, despite the “absence of threats on its borders,” as he described it. He added: “Why does Egypt need all these submarines and tanks?”
In an interview with Kol Barama radio, reported in the Jerusalem Post on Friday, Danon stressed that Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7 calls for caution, arguing: “We have learned our lesson, and we must closely monitor Egypt and be prepared for any “possible scenario.”
