Ali Taeb, a senior figure and former representative of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, died on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the IRGC’s “Tharallah” headquarters in Tehran.
The announcement of his death by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard came without any details regarding the cause or circumstances—described by media as “mysterious.”
The brief statement, published Sunday by state media, simply confirmed his death. The new top IRGC commander, Mohammad Pakpour, sent condolences to Taeb’s brother, Hossein Taeb, in a message that also omitted any further details.
Ali Taeb belonged to a powerful family with deep ties to Iran’s intelligence and security establishment. His brother, Hossein Taeb, previously led the IRGC’s intelligence arm and now serves as a senior adviser to the commander of the Revolutionary Guard. Another brother, Mehdi Taeb, heads the “Ammar Headquarters,” a coordination center affiliated with Iran’s hardline religious movement.
