A dramatic CNN investigation claims the Russian cargo ship *Ursa Major* (“Sparta 3”), which mysteriously sank in the Mediterranean in December 2024, was secretly transporting two nuclear submarine reactors to North Korea.
According to the report, the vessel sank roughly 60 nautical miles southeast of Spain after a series of unexplained explosions in its engine room.
While the official cargo manifest listed cranes and empty containers, investigators say the ship was actually carrying components for two Russian VM-4SG nuclear reactors used in attack submarines.
The reactors were reportedly destined for North Korea’s Rason port as part of a growing military partnership between Moscow and Pyongyang. In exchange for North Korean military assistance in the Ukraine war, Russia is believed to have transferred sensitive military technologies to the Kim regime.
