Israeli Border Police announced on Tuesday afternoon the arrest of a man trying to smuggle illegal eggs into Israel from Judea and Samaria on Monday night.
Police seized 12,000 eggs without proper permits and without supervision. In addition, the stamps that were on all the eggs were found to be fake.
After being tipped off by the Israeli Poultry Council that somebody was smuggling food and goods from the Palestinian Authority, police spotted a vehicle trying to pass through the separation fence in an area of southern Judea. After a short chase, police stopped the car near Moshav Amatzia in central Israel.
The suspect was identified as a man in his 30s from the Israeli Negev town of Netivot, near Beersheva.
