The United States has announced the inclusion of the Quds Force's oil supply network, the special operational arm of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and Hezbollah, in the list of terrorist organizations
The Iranians have failed in their attempt to force the Americans to remove the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) from the list of terrorist organizations in exchange for a renewed nuclear deal. The United States is now announcing the tightening of the suffocation ring on the Iranian economy.
"The oil supply network generates revenues of hundreds of millions of dollars for Quds Force and Hezbollah and is therefore registered as a terrorist," the Americans said.
Given the global energy crisis, which is developing in part following Russia's war with Ukraine, smuggled Iranian oil was a significant component of Tehran's revenues in light of the sanctions imposed on it. The US State Department said in a statement that "the international oil smuggling and money laundering network is run by Quds Force members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, who assisted in the sale of Iranian oil worth hundreds of millions of dollars to Quds Force and the Lebanese Hezbollah organization."
