"Our ultimate goal is clear - to continue to curb and prevent terrorism before it occurs."
Chief of Staff, Lt. Col. Eyal Zamir, held a situation assessment in the Menashe Brigade today (Saturday), following the attack that occurred yesterday (Friday), with the Commander of the Central Command, Maj. Gen. Avi Balut, Commander of the Judea and Samaria Division, Brigadier General Kobi Heller, Head of the Civil Administration, Brigadier General Hisham Ibrahim, Commander of the Menashe Brigade, Col. M., and other commanders from the security forces.
The Chief of Staff noted that this was a serious terrorist attack and ordered the reinforcement of the Central Command's Special Operations Command, along with continuing offensive activity, including the encirclement, curfew, and hunt for terrorist operatives in the Qabatia area. In addition, he ordered the sealing of the terrorist's house to be completed and to work to complete the processes for its demolition.
The Chief of Staff also directed that collection capabilities in the area be improved, both for monitoring and for rapidly closing circles. The Chief of Staff emphasized that systemic action must be taken to tighten coordination between security agencies and to act together against the entire value chain of infiltrators, just as terrorism is dealt with.
Chief of Staff, Lt. Col. Eyal Zamir, said: "We are following a serious terrorist incident in which two civilians were killed. The IDF shares the grief of the families and stands by them at this difficult time. This terrorist incident sharpens the IDF's responsibility to learn, draw lessons, and strengthen the protection of Israeli citizens, in Judea and Samaria and in the regions in general."
"The characteristics of the period are the isolated perpetrators and illegal residents. Enforcement against the transporters and employers must be increased and improved. Alongside this, we must continue to improve and advance the capabilities to locate and thwart those perpetrators. Even during these hours, IDF forces are working vigorously to thwart terrorism. Our ultimate goal is clear, to continue to curb and prevent terrorism before it takes off."
The Chief of Staff reiterated the importance of cooperation between all security agencies, noting that only multi-organizational and multi-layered treatment will significantly reduce the phenomenon.
