WATCH: Ted Cruz: explains why UNRWA must be shut down over Hamas links
US Senator Ted Cruz called for UNRWA to be shut down after reports that more than 1,500 of its staff members are suspected of being Hamas terrorists or directly linked to Hamas terrorists.
“We now have an investigation into more than 1,500 UNRWA staff suspected of being Hamas terrorists, or directly linked to Hamas terrorists,” Cruz said. “That is a big damn deal.”
Cruz said the scale of the allegations proves that UNRWA is not merely a flawed aid organization, but an agency that has been deeply compromised by Hamas.
“That is an agency that needs to shut down,” Cruz said. “Needs to be padlocked. Needs to be ended.”
