New Orleans terrorist suspect set fire to rental property before attack: FBI
Authorities have disclosed that evidence was recovered from the Airbnb rented by the suspect in the New Orleans New Year’s terrorist attack.
The individual responsible for the deadly attack, identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, allegedly ignited a small fire in the hallway of his rental property in an attempt to eliminate bomb-making evidence prior to the assault, according to a joint statement from the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
The agencies reported that Jabbar strategically applied accelerants throughout the house to facilitate the destruction of evidence related to his crime. Fortunately, the fire extinguished itself before it could spread to other areas of the property.
