Syrian sources report that at the beginning of the week, an unidentified anti-tank vehicle attacked a convoy of trucks loaded with weapons and ammunition, in the al-Sokhana desert east of the city of Homs.
The attack was carried out at around 06:00 while the convoy was on its way from the headquarters of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in Al Sohana towards the depths of the desert, when its goal was to fight ISIS.
It is assumed that the attack was from ISIS, and this was a large escalation in their war on Shiites.
According to the same sources, 9 were killed in the attack and 12 were injured.
Among the dead are 2 commanders in the pro-Iranian militias:
-Haj Elnur commander of the desert area.
-Said Mokadem, liaison and logistics officer.
Among the seriously wounded is a field commander named Ali Seif.
Following the attack, large reinforcements arrived at the scene, including forces from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and the Lebanese Hezbollah.
The dead and wounded were transferred to the military hospital in Palmyra.
