The Jonathan Battalion of the Hasmonean Brigade (613) completed its first battalion exercise in the Golan Heights area yesterday (Tuesday), completing the battalion's training and preparation for operational activity.
As part of the exercise, the forces practiced open-field combat, raids, and combat in built-up areas.
The Jonathan Battalion is the first regular battalion of the brigade. As part of its combat training, the soldiers in the battalion underwent specialized courses in sabotage, reconnaissance, drones, anti-aircraft guns, and snipers that are tailored to their lifestyle and allow the battalion to operate as an organic framework.
"You can be Haredi and be a fighter, you are making history," began the commander of the ground force, Major General Nadav Lotan, "The Hasmonean Brigade continues to establish itself as a combatant ground brigade, this exercise and the establishment of the battalions are another significant step on the way to that. I am proud of you, the fighters and commanders of the brigade, you operate at a high operational standard and maintain your unique identity."
