Israel has repeatedly proven itself to be one of America’s most loyal allies—not only on the battlefield, but in intelligence, technology, diplomacy and business.
So why are President Donald Trump and members of his White House publicly humiliating Israel and its prime minister?
First came reports revealing private, profanity-filled conversations between Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu. The president later confirmed that he had harshly berated Netanyahu. That raised an obvious question: Who was leaking these sensitive calls, and why was the White House allowing an ally’s leader to be humiliated publicly?
Trump then began criticizing Netanyahu openly and even speculated about whether he would run in Israel’s coming election. Netanyahu has since confirmed that he will run.
