Iran’s Islamic regime is continuing its sweeping crackdown against political opponents, students, artists and labor activists, months after security forces crushed nationwide anti-government protests.
Poet and novelist Yousef Ansari, arrested during the January demonstrations, has been sentenced to four months in prison, with an additional eight-month suspended sentence. Music professor Fereydoun Farahani was also arrested over social-media posts, including a song supporting the Iranian people’s demand for freedom.
In Isfahan Province, authorities announced plans to confiscate the property of 100 people branded “traitors,” without publicly presenting evidence against them. Similar measures have reportedly been imposed against hundreds of Iranians across the country.
Iran Human Rights reported that at least 40 prisoners—including 19 protesters—had been executed on politically motivated charges since the beginning of 2026. Amnesty International has warned that at least 78 protesters and political prisoners remain at risk of execution, including 41 detained during the January uprising.
