President Donald Trump has taken decisive action to restore law and order in Los Angeles by authorizing the deployment of an additional 2,000 National Guard members, the Pentagon announced Monday.
This move brings the total number of Guard troops responding to the escalating immigration protests to more than 4,100.
Just hours earlier, approximately 700 U.S. Marines were deployed to support local law enforcement in controlling the chaos. The reinforcements come as radical protestors continue to clash with authorities over Trump’s firm stance on securing the southern border and cracking down on illegal immigration.
The initial wave of 2,100 Guard members began arriving in LA Monday evening, although full deployment timelines remain fluid.
