Hussein Aboubakr Mansour writes and posts this video on his X account: Former Qatari Prime Minister Hamad Bin Jassim: We had journalists on our payroll in many countries, some of them became MPs; Most Arab countries were doing this
Qatar is now saying the quiet part out loud. Muslims are trying to regain control of the information war and conservative journalists are now being targeted more than ever.
I often think very sympathetically of Gulf rulers and elites who by the virtue of being some of the wealthiest people in the world, "endless cash" as Trump said it, get to see levels of deep and vast corruption that would make one lose their mind. Think of how many journalists, religious leaders, politicians, activists, etc. come knocking and begging for bribes.
Any imam or pen for hire can go to Doha find a gig praising Hamas, go to the UAE find a gig praising peace, go to Riyadh find a gig praising the WWE. No wonder many Arab leaders are just cynics who believe in nothing and no one. They get to see behind the curtains of much of whats being cooked.
