The Muslim Brotherhood's Mekameleen television channel announced in an official statement on Friday that it had permanently stopped broadcasting from Turkey and closed its studios after 8 years in which it operated from Istanbul.
Sources on Al-Arabiya.net reported that the Turkish authorities demanded that the management of the satellite channel, which actually belongs to the Muslim Brotherhood, stop its programs visiting Egypt or permanently stop broadcasting from Turkish territory.
They also noted that Ankara's move comes in light of the Turkish-Egyptian rapprochement, which group leaders saw as inconsistent with the organization's policy or media activities, so it decided to move the satellite channel to other countries, most likely Britain.
Meanwhile, Turkish authorities have suspended the plans of a number of other broadcasters from the Brotherhood, led by Muhammad Nasser, Hamza Zuba, Hisham Abdullah, Hussam al-Jamri and Hitham Abu Khalil, and warned others not to repeat the matter.
Renewal of diplomatic contacts with Egypt
It is worth noting that Turkey announced the resumption of its diplomatic contacts with Egypt last year, when a delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Sadat Onel visited Egypt last May on a first-of-its-kind visit since 2013. He held "exploratory" talks. In Cairo with senior Egyptian officials headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Hamdi Sanad Luza.
Israel needs to "watch and learn" from Egypt in this matter. The Turks are dreaming of the billions of dollars they can make from an Israeli gas line to Europe through Turkey.
