Israeli authorities have cleared for publication that a strike was identified at the oil refineries in Haifa. At the same time, Energy and Infrastructure Minister Eli Cohen said the damage to the northern power grid was localized and not significant.
Minister Cohen said Israel Electric Corporation teams are already operating in the field and have restored electricity to most of those who were disconnected.
He added that power is expected to return to the remaining affected areas shortly, and stressed that the barrage on northern Israel did not cause any significant damage to critical infrastructure sites across the country.
NEWSRAEL: WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT
The Haifa refineries are one of Israel’s most strategically sensitive energy sites, so any confirmed strike there immediately raises concerns about supply resilience and the vulnerability of key national infrastructure.
