President Trump’s envoy Tom Barrack arrived in Beirut carrying what Al-Akhbar describes as a “final warning,” telling Lebanese leaders they have one last opportunity.
He told them that they must learn the lesson and enter direct, US-mediated negotiations with Israel to set a timetable and mechanism for disarming Hezbollah terrorists. According to the report, Barrack said this would be his last visit to Lebanon and framed the diplomatic route as the only way to avoid harsher outcomes.
Barrack reportedly warned that if Lebanon refuses talks, “Lebanon will be left to its fate” and will remain neglected by both the US and regional actors, leaving Israel free to take whatever measures it deems necessary — including the unilateral use of force — to carry out a disarmament by force.
The envoy urged immediate direct negotiations between Beirut and Jerusalem under US auspices to prevent escalation and to establish clear steps for dismantling Hezbollah’s weapons infrastructure.
