The security zone in southern Lebanon is located near Israel's northern border.

Its objective is to prevent Hezbollah from establishing itself near the border, thwart infiltration attempts, and enable IDF troops to detect and neutralize threats before they can reach Israeli civilians.

Since March 2nd, 2026, Hezbollah has launched over 10,000 missiles, rockets, and drones towards Israeli civilians and IDF troops.

The IDF states it will continue operating against Hezbollah's threat to the northern border and civilians.
