In a dramatic and unprecedented move, leading Lebanese political figures are calling for the establishment of an international tribunal to prosecute those responsible for dragging Lebanon into war—including Hezbollah and Iran.
At a high-profile conference titled “Saving Lebanon,” key figures from the country’s “sovereign” camp took part, including Samir Geagea and Ashraf Rifi, alongside other senior officials. The gathering, known as the “Maarab Summit 3,” follows two previous meetings under the same banner.
The conference concluded with a highly charged statement aimed at pressuring the Lebanese government and President Joseph Aoun to take concrete steps toward holding Hezbollah accountable through legal means.
In a striking departure from the traditional narrative, participants rejected labeling recent events as “Israeli aggression.” Instead, they argued that Hezbollah initiated the escalation, unilaterally dragging Lebanon into conflict without government approval and in defiance of state authority.
