Vehicle theft foiled on Highway 1 – Jerusalem District Police and the Traffic Division arrested an illegal resident from the Hebron area who stole a vehicle from Ashdod and attempted to transport it to the Judea and Samaria territories.
A resident of the areas of the Palestinian Authority was arrested on suspicion of stealing a car in southern Israel and was taken for questioning at the Beit Shemesh police station on suspicion of crimes of illegal entry into Israel and vehicle theft.
Early Sunday morning, a report was received of a stolen vehicle from the city of Ashdod, and an indication was received that the vehicle was moving east on Highway 1, the central highway connecting Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Following this, police officers from the Harel and Beit Shemesh stations, along with traffic police officers, were deployed on Highway 1 in order to locate it and thwart the actions of the suspect driving it.
