Iran International reported that Ebrahim Rezaei was removed as spokesman for the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, while Mahmoud Nabavian lost his position as the committee’s deputy chairman.

Both men were prominent critics of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the US, suggesting that their removal may be another small battle inside the regime between radicals willing to accept a tactical agreement and extreme radicals who regard almost any compromise with Washington as treason.

Iranian state television claimed that Nabavian had revealed details from classified documents and private correspondence involving senior officials during a television appearance. That allegation gave the regime an official justification for removing him from the influential position.
