25 years since the Ramallah lynching of two Israeli soldiers

Today marks 25 years since the brutal lynching of two Israeli soldiers by Palestinian Arabs in Ramallah on October 12, 2000. 

The two reservists, who accidentally entered the city, were captured by a mob, beaten, and murdered in a police station, with their bodies mutilated before being thrown out of a window.

The shocking event, which was filmed and widely circulated, became one of the most horrifying symbols of the Second Intifada and left a deep scar on Israeli society. 

In recent days, anti-Israel protesters around the world have been painting their hands red to symbolize and glorify that lynching—an act that has drawn outrage from Israelis and Jewish communities worldwide.
