In a report aired by the Al-Mayadeen channel, the Lebanese government is accused of surrendering to Israel and the United States by agreeing to conditions that, according to the report, fulfill all of Israel’s ambitions, while leaving Lebanon defenseless.
The report highlights that although the government decided to disarm Hezbollah by the end of 2025, Hezbollah and Amal ministers "demonstrated patriotism" by voting against the rest of the cabinet.
Their argument: Lebanon is being left without defensive capabilities, even though it honored the ceasefire — while Israel has allegedly violated Lebanese sovereignty over 4,000 times since then, killing hundreds (most of whom were Hezbollah fighters, who are, technically, also Lebanese citizens).
What the report doesn’t mention is that Hezbollah’s weapons were never meant to protect Lebanon — but rather to deter Israel from striking Iran’s nuclear and missile infrastructure. These weapons have largely failed in that mission. Israel has already destroyed most of them, while also striking targets in Iran and Yemen.
