WW3 WATCH: Croatia reinstates mandatory military service
Amid growing security concerns over the war in Ukraine, Croatia’s parliament has approved the reinstatement of mandatory military service for the first time since 2008.
The decision, passed with a large majority, will require young citizens to undergo two months of basic military training.
Croatia’s Defense Ministry said the move aims to “strengthen national security and equip young people with essential skills for emergency situations.” The decision follows months of debate across Europe about preparedness for potential conflict as tensions with Russia continue to escalate.
