US wants to acquire and upgrade hundreds of border surveillance towers
The plan is comprised of of 296 new surveillance towers for use along the borders, and the upgrade of 191 older towers with new surveillance equipment and related services

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency (CBP) announced a new program called the Consolidated Tower and Surveillance Equipment Program to improve the current and future surveillance towers for protecting the country's land and sea borders.
According to a December 8 Request for Proposal (RFP), the program will involve the purchase of 296 new surveillance towers for use along the borders and the upgrade of 191 older towers with new surveillance equipment and related services.
