Iranian Islamic historian Hamidreza Bigdeloo declared on Iranian state television that journalists and presenters working for opposition outlets such as Manoto TV and Iran International should understand that “their lives are not safe” and that killing them is “sanctioned.”
During the interview, Bigdeloo argued that Iran must “control the enemy’s media front” and suggested that media figures he described as “two-faced” should face violent consequences for opposing the regime. He specifically targeted Persian-language broadcasters outside Iran that are widely watched by Iranians critical of the Islamic regime.
The remarks are part of a growing pattern of threats by regime-linked figures against dissidents, journalists, and opposition media operating from Europe and other foreign countries. Iran International and similar outlets have repeatedly reported intimidation attempts, threats, and alleged Iranian plots targeting their staff abroad.
