Prof. Steinitz at the JCFA conference: “In Iran, there is currently a debate between those who want to survive and those who are willing to die with ‘glory’”
Prof. Yuval Steinitz warned during a diplomatic briefing by the Jerusalem Center for Foreign Affairs and Security (JCFA) that a deep internal conflict is currently developing within the Iranian leadership following the severe damage to the regime and its proxies across the Middle East.
According to him, after the collapse of the Iranian proxy axis—Hamas, Hezbollah, the Assad regime, and the Houthis—Tehran realized that “Israel now holds absolute superiority and can directly strike Iran and its infrastructure.”
Steinitz claimed that part of the Iranian leadership understands that the regime is at the beginning of the end and is trying to reach arrangements that will allow its survival. “There are more realistic people who say: let’s try to survive, make concessions, reach agreements, and avoid catastrophe,” he said.
