74 bodies found bound and wrapped in Iran’s Karaj Dam after water levels drop
Iranian authorities have confirmed the discovery of 74 unidentified bodies in the nearly dried Karaj (Amir Kabir) Dam, northwest of Tehran. The grim find emerged after a drastic decline in water levels, marking the first time since the dam’s construction in 1958 that its bed has been exposed.
According to the now-removed report from the state-run Roydad24 website, many of the remains were found bound hand and foot and wrapped in plastic, carpets, and rugs.
Officials have not commented on the victims’ identities or the causes of death, while speculation grows about mass executions or organized killings during past unrest.
