A deepening power struggle is unfolding inside Hezbollah, following heavy losses to its political and military leadership during the war.
According to an analysis by the Alma Research and Education Center, the eliminations have created a leadership vacuum that is fueling internal rivalries and weakening organizational cohesion.
Although Naim Qassem was swiftly appointed as the organization’s new leader, his authority is far from secure. A significant number of senior figures are reportedly challenging his leadership, questioning both his ability to impose discipline and to guide critical decision-making at a time of unprecedented pressure on the group.
Within Hezbollah’s military wing, earlier power struggles appeared temporarily resolved with the appointment of a new military commander. However, his subsequent elimination reopened a longstanding and unresolved debate over who should assume command, further destabilizing the organization’s chain of command.
