NTD English News Reporter Iris Tao was invited to speak at US President Donald Trump’s Cabinet meeting at the White House this week on the subject of crime in Washington.
Trump invited Tao to speak about how she was attacked in January 2023: “I heard you were robbed very brutally in the city.”
Tao recounted how she was robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight by a masked man as she left her Washington apartment to work at the White House. The robber asked for her wallet, as well as her cell phone and laptop.
When she refused, he hit her in the face with his gun and fled. Tao said that for a long time she had been afraid to leave her house in the evenings and thanked the president for restoring safety to residents.
