President Donald Trump sharply criticized Rep. Ilhan Omar, suggesting she should be expelled from the United States if allegations regarding her marriage history prove true.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump referenced long-standing claims that Omar entered the country through an immigration scheme involving a marriage to her brother.
“Somalia — where you have a Congresswoman who lectures everyone about our Constitution — yet she supposedly came into our country by marrying her brother,” Trump said. “If that’s true, she shouldn’t be in Congress, and we should throw her the hell out of our country.”
Trump added that the U.S. does not need people “telling us what to do,” especially while controversies involving Minnesota’s Somali community continue to grow. Reports have documented widespread fraud in state-funded healthcare programs, and Trump previously moved to end Temporary Protected Status for Somali nationals amid concerns over billions in missing taxpayer funds.
