American Hijab diplomacy of shame and confusion
The US ambassador to Lebanon, Dorothy Shea, today visited the High Council for Shia Islam in Lebanon, during which she met with Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, the council's vice-chairman.

Next to Shea, the director of the American Agency for International Development in Lebanon, Marie Eileen, was also present at the meeting. In the photos released from the meeting, Shea and Eileen are seen wearing hijabs.
Criticism was heard on social networks about wearing the hijab during the visit:
"The American ambassador in Lebanon wears a hijab, while the US encourages Iranian women to remove the hijab!".
