The city without cars and roads is on its way

In Saudi Arabia, work has begun on one of the most interesting projects in the Middle East.

The project called "The Lane" is actually a futuristic city on the shores of the Red Sea as part of the mega project "Neom". It will be car-free and road-free and will be 100% powered by clean energy. The first residents are expected to arrive at De Lane as early as 2024.

Regent Muhammad bin Salman first announced plans for the line in January this year but only in recent days have bulldozers begun to surface and build the three layers of the linear city: the pedestrian surface area, plus two underground layers for transport and infrastructure.

The investment in De Lane is estimated at $ 100 billion to $ 200 billion and is expected to absorb about 1 million residents.
