The new guidelines limit gatherings in communities along the Lebanese border to no more than 50 people outdoors and 200 indoors, and beaches are closed to the public. They came into effect at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and end at 20:00 on Monday.

The outbreak has spread across farming areas in eastern Iran, where the insects are consuming cultivated fields and pastureland relied upon by rural households.
