Israel has reportedly eliminated Atif Baqeri, commander of Unit 840 of the IRGC’s Quds Force, in a targeted strike alongside the head of IRGC intelligence. The operation marks a significant escalation in Israel’s campaign against Iran’s global terror network.
Baqeri led Unit 840, a covert arm responsible for planning and executing attacks against Israeli, Western, and regime-opposition targets worldwide. He was considered a key figure behind attempted assassinations and terror plots targeting Israelis and Jews abroad, as well as efforts to smuggle weapons and build operational infrastructure across multiple continents.
The strike delivers a direct blow to Iran’s “execution arm” for overseas terror. Unit 840 specialized in building sleeper networks and coordinating high-profile attacks far beyond the Middle East, including in Europe and South America. Removing its commander disrupts operational continuity and weakens Iran’s ability to project terror globally.
The timing and scale of the operation—alongside the elimination of a senior intelligence chief—highlight what appears to be deep Israeli intelligence penetration into the most sensitive layers of the Iranian regime. This follows a broader pattern of targeted eliminations of Quds Force figures over the past year.
