In Aljazeera they wanted to show the "Palestine" of 1925 as a prosperous country with an indigenous population. In the photo: Rabbi Kook and Baron Rothschild
The "Al Jazeera" network wanted to prove that the state of "Palestine" has existed for over 100 years, but one of the photos it provided to prove this was from the dedication of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem in 1925.
On the network's official Facebook page, a post was published on the occasion of "Nakba Day", which dealt with the topic of "the new historians" and "exposing the crimes of the occupation state".
In the post, the Al Jazeera captains sought to "debunk myths" regarding the establishment of Israel and prove that already 100 years ago Palestine was a "prosperous rural country, and any other narrative is a blatant falsification of history."
However, Ohad Merlin, an analyst and advocacy activist on Arabic social networks, noticed that one of the photos that is supposed to prove the existence of a prosperous Palestinian state about 100 years ago, is a photo from the founding of the Hebrew University.
"The image that the network chose to use to create an illustration of a prosperous country with an 'indigenous' population was actually from the 1925 inauguration of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem," Merlin told Channel 7. And of course Lord Balfour who speaks in the center."
