Dr. Mordechai Kedar, the VP of NEWSRAEL and world-known expert on the Muslim world, discussed the impact of the Iran nuclear deal on global politics and Israel's strategic position.
He explained that Iran's agreement with the United States would allow Iran to control the Hormuz Strait and restore militias across the Middle East, including Hezbollah in Lebanon and Houthis in Yemen.
Dr. Kedar argued that the world would now be divided into two parts: before and after June 13, 2026, with Iran and its allies gaining significant influence while the West's power diminishes. He expressed concern that Israel and other Middle Eastern countries would need to recalculate their strategies in response to Iran's enhanced position, noting that many in the region viewed the deal as a religious victory for Islam over Christianity and Judaism.
Dr. Kedar also discussed the complicated dynamics between Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey, explaining how regional rivalries were affecting the Abraham Accords. When asked about the impact on Israeli elections, he explained that election outcomes are heavily influenced by events occurring just one week before voting, making it too early to assess the agreement's effect on the October elections.
