Jerusalem district police arrested eight suspects, residents of East Jerusalem, on suspicion of inciting and supporting terrorism and terrorists on social networks.
In recent days, nine other suspects were arrested by the Jerusalem district units on suspicion of incitement, a total of 17 suspects.
One of the arrested suspects uploaded photos of terrorists and published words of support for them, including a photo of a terrorist belonging to his family, Karim Koasemi, who carried out a stabbing attack in the Old City of Jerusalem about two years ago, during which two police officers were injured. In the search conducted by the police at his home, shields of honor of the Fatah movement praising the actions of that terrorist were seized.
The police said the arrests came after the Jerusalem District has coordinated an intelligence and operational effort against instigators and supporters of terrorism due to many cases of terrorist and incitement being published on social media in recent times.
The commander of the Jerusalem district, Superintendent Doron Turgeman, ordered the establishment of a special mission headquarters in the Kedem area of the district, which coordinates targeted activity against instigators who support terrorist organizations and terrorists and publish inflammatory words on social networks.
