Western intelligence agencies are reportedly conducting an urgent effort to locate suspected Iranian chemical weapons stockpiles, amid growing fears the regime could resort to such weapons if it believes its survival is at stake.
Recent reports indicate that intelligence officers from the US, Britain, and France are working to identify possible storage sites inside Iran believed to contain chemical agents, including nerve gas. In some cases, the intelligence effort is reportedly being coordinated with Israeli guidance in order to pinpoint exact locations.
According to the reports, the concern is that Iran may possess an undeclared chemical weapons program despite being a signatory to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). Western intelligence assessments suggest that the regime may have secretly developed and stored chemical agents outside of international monitoring frameworks.
There are also claims that Iranian authorities may have used toxic chemical substances during the suppression of protests in January 2026, raising further concerns about the regime’s willingness to employ such weapons under extreme pressure.
