Al Qaeda cell, plotting terror attack in North India, BUSTED; 11 arrested from UP, Jharkhand, Rajasthan: Delhi Police
The Delhi Police announced that they were able to locate and dismantle a terrorist cell that was allegedly inspired by al-Qaeda. The operation, which involved joint efforts of police forces across Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, led to the arrest of 14 people allegedly associated with the group.
According to reports, the group was preparing to carry out a series of high-profile terrorist activities aimed at establishing a "caliphate" within India.
The cell was led by one Dr. Ishtiaq Ahad from Ranchi (from Jharkhand), and he sought to declare a caliphate and carry out serious terrorist acts within the country, and weapons and literature related to Al Qaeda were seized according to the announcement from the Delhi Police.
