British employers slashed jobs in April at an alarming pace, driven by soaring employment costs and economic shockwaves from Donald Trump's trade war.
The fallout has shaken business confidence to historic lows.
According to the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development), employer confidence hit an all-time low, triggering widespread layoffs and hiring freezes across multiple sectors.
One key factor: the April hike in National Insurance payments. Critics argue these increased taxes are necessary to fund the millions of Muslim immigrants who, they say, are "taking over the kingdom."
CIPD noted that productivity among manufacturing and service companies dropped sharply in April, underscoring the growing pressure on UK businesses. “Confidence levels are now at their weakest in four years,” the organization warned.
The employment index fell from +13 to +8 over the last quarter. The public sector was hit hardest, plunging into negative territory—from +3 to -4. Retail companies in the private sector also saw a severe blow.
