Bennett not only did nothing to eliminate Hamas, but diligently implemented the policy of containing Hamas ● For example, in 2018 Bennett did say in the media that transferring Qatari money to the Gaza Strip was "protection money," but in the cabinet he voted in favor of introducing the Qatari funds
NEWS 1 -- In a column written by left-wing former minister of Justice, Haim Ramon he says;
Yesterday Naftali Bennett said that Benjamin Netanyahu wanted to eliminate him politically while he himself wanted to eliminate Hamas. Bennett is right, Netanyahu wanted to eliminate him politically, and more than once. But Bennett at no point supported or acted to overthrow Hamas' rule in the Gaza Strip. In fact, the opposite is true.
Bennett often boasts that Netanyahu's book tells how he (Bennett) demanded a full ground invasion to conquer Gaza. Only Bennett does not continue and says that Netanyahu describes in his book how he stopped demanding this after a cabinet discussion in which the heads of the defense establishment participated, even though he continued to tell the media that he favors invading Gaza and eliminating Hamas.
Other people who participated in the discussion in question confirm that Bennett is lying about his position in the cabinet. And that was the case.
In the cabinet meeting convened by Netanyahu, representatives of the General Staff showed a presentation according to which the sky would fall on Israel if it occupied the Strip and brought down the Hamas.
At the end of the presentation, Netanyahu asked those present: "Is anyone in favor of collapsing Hamas?" Bennett, as well as Avigdor Lieberman, immediately folded and said: "We accept that Hamas does not need to be vanquished."
In the following years, Bennett not only did nothing to eliminate Hamas, but diligently implemented the policy of containing Hamas.
For example, in 2018, Bennett did say in the media that the transfer of Qatari money to the Strip was "protection money," but in the cabinet he voted in favor of introducing the Qatari funds. Defense Minister Lieberman said at the time that "Bennett supported the money from the beginning, as well as the Qatari fuel, and even proposed bringing 5,000 workers from Gaza to Israel." Lieberman added that "Bennett opposed any military action against Hamas and the responsibility for The protection is for him and his party."
In 2019-2020, as Defense Minister in Netanyahu's government, Bennett approved the entry of Gazan workers into Israel, contrary to the Shin Bet's position, and strove for a "settlement" with the Hamas government.
He explained at the time that "we are giving Hamas a little more chance to continue the calm." In 2021-2022, as Prime Minister, Bennett again allowed the entry of thousands of Gazan workers into Israel, and approved the entry of Qatari funds and resources into the Strip.
When Bennett was acting prime minister, Israel launched a military operation in the Gaza Strip against Islamic Jihad, and the IDF received strict instructions not to harm Hamas operatives.
The truth is that Bennett was one of the leaders of the Hamas containment concept, and therefore bears heavy responsibility for the October 7 massacre.
His current attempt to rewrite history only proves that a crook will always remain a crook. Offered as a public service to anyone thinking of voting for Bennett.
