US President Donald Trump announced the launch of the first phase of a deal with Japan worth more than half a trillion dollars.
Trump announced three new projects in cooperation with Japan, including a gas-powered power plant, a crude oil export facility in Texas, and synthetic diamond production for industry.
One of the first projects to get underway is a natural gas power plant to be built in Ohio, valued at $36 billion.
US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick says this is the largest gas-based power plant ever built and that it will be able to produce 9.2 gigawatts. Another major project is a crude oil export facility to be built in Texas, which according to Lutnick, will export oil worth $20 to $30 billion annually.
