Syrian security forces have arrested a terror cell linked to Hezbollah that was planning to assassinate Rabbi Michael Khouri in Damascus.
According to Syrian reports, the cell attempted to plant an explosive device with a remote activation mechanism near the rabbi’s residence. Initial findings from the Syrian Interior Ministry indicate that the group—four men and one woman—had undergone military training outside Syria, including instruction in handling explosives.
Rabbi Khouri is believed to reside in Israel, but had recently visited Syria and met with members of the local Jewish community, making him a target for the planned attack.
