More from Trump: "I would like to destroy all the buildings in Gaza – so that there is no more Hamas left."
"I will probably talk to Prime Minister Netanyahu about the Saturday deadline. If Egypt and Jordan do not accept Palestinians into their territory, I will consider canceling aid to them."
Commentary on Trump's statement: The president has not forgotten what he declared about two months ago about what would happen if Hamas did not release the hostages by the time he took office. Then came the deal. Did it satisfy Trump? Apparently not. It seems that Trump was indeed interested in the decisive release of the hostages, and not a slow release, accompanied by cruel games and cynical maneuvers by Hamas.
In addition: Senator Tom Cotton said of Trump's ultimatum: "Hamas must release everyone."
