Bank Employees Stunned when Yeshiva Student Returns Extra Money Handed to Him by Mistake

Yeshiva student had withdrawn $5,000, but, upon returning home and counting the bills, found he had been given $6,000.

A yeshiva student in Boro Park last week caused a stir among bank employees when he returned a sum of money that had inadvertently been given to him when he withdrew cash.

The Yeshiva World News reported that the yeshiva student had withdrawn $5,000 from a branch of Chase Bank in Boro Park, but, when he returned home and counted his bills, he found that he had been handed $6,000 instead.

Double-checking his receipt, he found that he had, indeed, only withdrawn 5,000.

The student returned to the bank the next morning and handed the teller $1,000, telling him that he had mistakenly been given more money than he had withdrawn.

According to the report, the bank employees were completely surprised.

They told the yeshiva student that, while they had noticed that money had gone missing, they certainly did not expect that a customer would return the money.

God bless him. I once watched my mom drive over 65 miles round trip to return $5, so the cashier at Safeway’s till wouldn’t be off at the end of the day. That is what’s known as”integrity.”
