Former US President Barack Obama, the man who at the end of his last term tried to "throw Israel under the wheels of a bus" and hit it hard "below the belt", warned in a tweet on Monday, October 23, that some of Israel's actions in the war against Hamas, such as Not allowing water and food to enter Gaza, may lead to a more severe position of the Palestinians "that will last for several generations" and the opposite end result will be obtained.

In this tweet, while sympathizing with the Israeli victims of the attack on Hamas, he mentions that "Hamas leadership appears to be deliberately hiding among the citizens, thereby endangering the very people they claim to represent," he added: "It is important that Israel's military strategy meet the criteria of international law, including laws that seek to prevent death or suffering of civilians if possible."

After the end of his term, Mr. Obama, who usually pays less attention to conflicts and crises in foreign policy, said in this new tweet that was reflected in the American media on Monday: 

"The world is closely watching the events in the region and the entire military strategy of Israel that "ignoring the human costs could end up being harmful."

The former US president continued to write that "Thousands of Palestinians have been killed so far in the bombings of Gaza, many of them children. Hundreds of thousands of people were forced to leave their homes. The Israeli government's decision to cut off food, water and electricity to the besieged civilian population not only threatens to exacerbate the growing humanitarian crisis, but may also make the Palestinians' position more inflexible for generations; destroy world support for Israel in favor of Israel's enemies; and undermine long-term efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region."
