Former Obama chief of staff Rahm Emanuel is warning Democrats that their party is being pulled into dangerous territory by radical candidates who “don’t like America.”
Speaking on Fox News, Emanuel said some candidates — specifically in New York City — are not simply criticizing policy, but rejecting the country itself. His comments come as the Democratic Party faces growing internal pressure from socialist and anti-Israel factions that are gaining ground in major urban races.
Emanuel’s message was blunt: Democrats cannot win nationally if they allow anti-American voices to define the party. He argued that the party must speak to working Americans, focus on affordability, education, public safety and opportunity — not ideological slogans that alienate the mainstream.
The warning is significant because Emanuel is not a conservative critic. He is a longtime Democratic power player, former Chicago mayor, former US ambassador to Japan and one of the most prominent voices of the party’s establishment wing.
