Speaking about recent events, Boroujerdi told Iran’s defense minister that the current state of defenses was “no different” from the Iran–Iraq war era, when the country had virtually no air defense at all.

Boroujerdi pointed to Israel’s recent missile launches from aircraft, noting that not a single missile had been intercepted and no Iranian fighter jets were scrambled in response. According to Boroujerdi, the minister’s only reaction was to say, “You’ve destroyed me with your words.”
